Find the difference quotient of f(x)=5x+4
Aleonysh [2.5K]
The differnce quotient is basically taking the derivitive (result will be f'(x)=5, but anyway)

here is the disffernce quotient
lim_{h\rightarrow0}\frac{f(x+h)-f(x)}{h}

so
for your equation
lim_{h\rightarrow0}\frac{(5(x+h)+4)-(5x+4)}{h}
lim_{h\rightarrow0}\frac{5x+5h+4-5x-4}{h}
lim_{h\rightarrow0}\frac{5h}{h}
h's cancel and you are left with 5
the differnce quotient is 5

Are the two statements equivalent the ratio of orange. to blue is 3 to 4 <br><br>please help
Anestetic [448]

Answer:

Although I'm not entirely sure of the question (sorry lol), any ratio that is 1.5:2 , 6:8 , 9:12 , 12:18 etc would be equivalent to 3 to 4.

Step-by-step explanation:

If you divide both 3 and 4 by 2 you'd wind up with 1.5 ( 3 ) and 2 ( 4 ). When multiplying, you'd get 3x2 = 6 and 4x2=8, 3x3 = 9 and 4x3 = 12 and so on.

Rami bought a house on 1st January 2015. In2015 the house increased in value by 15%. In 2016 the house decreased in value by 8%.
shepuryov [24]

Answer:

The value of the house on 1st January 2015 was of $650,000.

Step-by-step explanation:

Decimal multipliers:

For a increase of a%, the decimal multiplier is given by \frac{100+a}{100}

For a decrease of a%, the decimal multiplier is given by \frac{100-a}{100}

Rami bought a house on 1st January 2015.

For a value of x.

In 2015 the house increased in value by 15%.

This means that x is multiplied by \frac{100+15}{100} = \frac{115}{100} = 1.15

In 2016 the house decreased in value by 8%.

This means that 1.15 times x is multiplied by \frac{100-8}{100} = \frac{92}{100} = 0.92

On 1st January 2017 the value of the house was $687700.

The value of these multiplications is 687700.

What was the value of the house on 1st January 2015?

This is x, so:

x*1.15*0.92 = 687700

x = \frac{687700}{1.15*0.92}

x = 650000

The value of the house on 1st January 2015 was of $650,000.
