Answer:

c. $80

Explanation:

GDP is the value in money of all finished goods and services within a country. It shows how good a country's economy is and provides a good estimate of the growth rate of the country.

The wool that Angus sells to the farmer is not part of the GDP since it is not a finished goods but an intermediate goods. Even though one sweater is sold, to calculate the GDP we use the value of two sweaters since two sweaters were produced.

GDP = 2 × $40 = $80

Answer:

$80

Explanation:

GDP is the total market value of final goods and services produced within an economy. The wool sold by Angus to Barnaby is an intermediate goods. We can not take the value of an intermediate good and add to the GDP as it is part of what was used to produce the sweaters.

So two sweaters were produced as final goods, one sold to Collette and the other remains.

The GDP is therefore the value of the two sweaters produced as final good. GDP = 2 × $40 = $80

The present value of a cash flow will _________ be less than the future dollar amount of the cash flow
nata0808 [166]

The present value of a cash flow will always be less than the future dollar amount of the cash flow.

What is the present value?

The present value is the value of future cash flows discounted by the discount rate to today's value.

Discounting converts a future value to an equivalent value received today. Discounting measures the relative value of a series of future cash flows to a present value.

For example, if $500 is to be received in ten years, with a discount rate of 5%, its present value will be $307 ($500 x 0.614).

Thus, the present value of a cash flow will always be less than the future dollar amount of the cash flow.

b.

Explanation:

a.

First, we need to calculate the YTM of 6 months zero-coupon bond by using the following formula

Price = Face value / ( 1 + YTM )^numbers of years

96.79 = 100 / ( 1 + YTM )^1

1 + YTM = 100 / 96.79

1 + YTM = 1.0331646

Now calculate the YTM of 1 Year zero-coupon bond

93.51 = 100 / ( 1 + YTM )^1

YTM = 1.0331646 - 1

YTM = 0.0331646

YTM = 3.31646%

YTM = 3.316%

1 + YTM = 100 / 93.51

1 + YTM = 1.06940

YTM = 1.06940 - 1

YTM = 0.06940

YTM = 6.940%

YTM = 6.94%

Hence the forward rate is calculated as follow

Forward rate = [ (1 + YTM of 1 year zero coupon bond ) / ( 1 + YTM of 6 months year zero coupon bond ) ] - 1 = ( 1 + 6.94% ) / ( 1 + 3.316% ) = [ 1.0694 / 1.03316 ] - 1 = 1.03508 - 1 = 0.03508 = 3.508% = 3.51%

b.

At the time of inception the formward rate is 0.
