The answer is cytochromes.

Cytochromes are iron-containing proteins responsible for ATP production via electron transport chain. The electron transport chain consists of Complex I, coenzyme Q, Complex II, Complex III, cytochrome c, Complex IV. Electrons from NADPH from the Krebs cycle are transported to Complex I and they are passed to coenzyme Q. Electrons from Complex II are passed to coenzyme Q as well. From coenzyme Q, electrons are passed to Complex III, then to cytochrome c, then to Complex IV.

Some salts form acidic or basic solutions in water, which is a result of a process called _____.
dem82 [27]
The answer would be salt hydrolysis.

Salt that was made from the combination of weak and strong acid/base could be hydrolyzed and forming another substance. The hydrolysis process will separate the H2O into H+ and OH- and the weak part of the salt will take one of the ions(weak base will take OH-, weak acid will take H+). The result would be increased H+( or OH- ion, leading to change in pH of the solution.

Name two examples of catastrophic events which could lead to a mass extinction?
Lemur [1.5K]

Asteroid impact

Volcanic eruptions

Explanation:

Asteroid impact and volcanic eruptions are two common events that could lead to a mass extinction.

A mass extinction is an abrupt decrease in life on earth due some catastrophic event.

 • The collision of a large bolide on the surface of the earth is a catastrophe in itself.
 • The collision and its aftermath have destructive consequences on life.
 • The force of the collision can reverberate in form of vibration throughout the earth.
 • It can cause heating of the earth surface.
 • Volcanic eruptions can become global phenomenon that upsets the earth balance.
