Answer:

1.

there is a point on which most economists agree, it is that trade among nations makes the world better off. Yet international trade can be one of the most contentious of political issues, both domestically and between governments.

When a firm or an individual buys a good or a service produced more cheaply abroad, living standards in both countries increase. There are other reasons consumers and firms buy abroad that also make them better off—the product may better fit their needs than similar domestic offerings or it may not be available domestically. In any case, the foreign producer also benefits by making more sales than it could selling solely in its own market and by earning foreign exchange (currency) that can be used by itself or others in the country to purchase foreign-made products.

2.

America cannot have a growing economy or lift the wages and incomes of our citizens unless we continue to reach beyond our borders and sell products, produce, and services to the 95% of the world’s population that lives outside the United States.

All of the following were beliefs of Stephen A. Douglas EXCEPT:
emmasim [6.3K]

The correct answer is A.

Stephen A. Douglas (1813-1861) was an American politician and member of the House of Representatives. He became candidate for presidency in the election of 1860, compiting against Lincoln. He was known as the <em>'Little Giant'</em> due to his short height but his dominant position in politics.

He believed in the principle of popular sovereignty, that the majority of citizens should decide on contendous matters such as the slavery issue. Otherwise, if the federal government enforces anti slave regulations, the detractor states and their people would issue <em>unfriendly</em> laws locally to ensure that discrimination continues. This is known as the Freeport Doctrine.

He also had mentioned explicitly his viewpoint about the Declaration of Independence, as a document not written for non-whites.

The most compelling reason immigration rose in the United States during the Industrial Revolution was because people were follow
alexira [117]

Answer:

looking for personal freedom and jobs

Explanation:

Since the industry started to develop in the United States, the interest among the people to migrate to it increased even more. The reasons for this were that the United States had industry that was growing very quickly, so labor force was demanded, thus the job opportunities were plenty. Another reason for the migration was personal freedom. The United States were seen as the country in which the people can express themselves freely, and that if they work hard enough and are capable enough, they can easily progress and became part of the higher class, which of course was very attractive for the ordinary people.
