Vertical component =  2.25 N downward

Horizontal component = 1.05 N to the right

Magnitude of the net force = √ (2.25² + 1.05²)
                                              = √6.165 =              2.483 N  (rounded)

Direction of the net force = tan⁻¹ (1.05/2.25) to the right of downward

                                           = tan⁻¹ ( 7/15 ) to the right of downward

                                           = 25° to the right of downward (rounded)

The magnitude of the net force on the apple is \boxed{2.48{\text{ N}}}.

The direction of the net force is with vertical \boxed{25^\circ}.

Further explanation:

Here, we have to calculate the magnitude and the direction of the net force on the apple.

Given:

The gravitational force exerted on the apple is 2.25{\text{ N}}.

Force exerted by the wind on the apple is 1.05{\text{ N}}.

Formula and concept used:

The gravitational force is a universal force and it act in downward direction that is towards the center of the earth.

The direction of the force exerted by the wind on the apple is towards write side in the horizontal direction.

So, the angle between the gravitational force and force due to wind will be 90^\circ that is both the forces are perpendicular to each other.

Consider gravitational force is W and force due to wind is F.

So, the net force applied on the apple is,

\boxed{R=\sqrt {\left( {{W^2} + {F^2} + 2WF\cos \theta } \right)} }

Here, \theta is the angle between both the forces which is equal to the 90^\circ.

So, the above equation can be written as,

R=\sqrt {{W^2} + {F^2}}                                                                                   …… (1)

The direction of the net force can be written as,

\boxed{\phi={{\tan }^{ - 1}}\left( {\frac{F}{W}}\right)}                                  ….. (2)

Calculation:

Substitute 2.25{\text{ N}} for W and 1.05{\text{ N}} for F in the equation (1).

\begin{aligned}R&=\sqrt {{{2.25}^2}+{{1.05}^2}}\\&=\sqrt {6.165}\\&=2.48{\text{ N}}\\\end{gathered}

For the direction,

Substitute 2.25{\text{ N}} for W and 1.05{\text{ N}} for F in the equation (2).

\begin{aligned}\phi&={\tan ^{ - 1}}\left( {\frac{{1.05}}{{2.25}}} \right)\\&=25^\circ\\\end{aligned}

Thus, the net force on the apple is \boxed{2.48{\text{ N}}} and direction of the net force is with vertical \boxed{25^\circ}.

Which statement regarding sound traveling in air is correct?
nikdorinn [45]

Answer: D. A wave with a shorter wavelength is always faster than one with a longer wavelength

Explanation: "Imagine two sets of waves that have the same speed. <u><em>If one set has a longer wavelength, it will have a lower frequency (more time between waves). If the other set has a shorter wavelength, it will have a higher frequency</em></u> (less time between waves). Light moves even faster AND has shorter wavelengths."

Why it's not C: "The number of complete wavelengths in a given unit of time is called frequency (f). <em><u>As a wavelength increases in size, its frequency and energy (E) decrease</u></em>. From these equations you may realize that as the frequency increases, the wavelength gets shorter. As the frequency decreases, the wavelength gets longer."

Why it's not B: "The frequency does not change as the sound wave moves from one medium to another. Since the speed changes and the frequency does not, the wavelength must change."

Why it's not A: "Do loud sounds travel faster than soft sounds? No. Both travel at the same speed The speed depends on the medium it passes through. Louder sounds are simply sound waves with higher amplitude traveling at the same speed."

Explain in two or three sentences how we can know what an object is made out of by looking at the light it gives off?
DaniilM [7]

Answer:

The act of 'seeing' an object is the result of light from any luminous source e.g. the Sun, a glowing candle or a torch, radiating outwardly from the source until it strikes the object and is reflected to travel to the observer's eyes where if it retains sufficient intensity it will form an image on the retina. i hope this helps

A bicycle is traveling north at 5.0 m/s. The mass of the wheel, 2.0 kg, is uniformly distributed along the rim, which has a radi
andreev551 [17]

Answer:2

Explanation:

Given

Velocity of bicycle is 5 m/s towards north

radius of rim r=20 cm

mass of rim m=2 kg

Angular momentum \vec{L}=I\cdot \vec{\omega }

I=mr^2=2\times 0.2^2=0.08 kg-m^2

\omega =\frac{v}{r}=\frac{5}{0.2}=25 rad/s

L=0.08\times 25=2kg-m^2/s

A luggage handler pulls a 20.0 kgkg suitcase up a ramp inclined at 32.0 ∘∘ above the horizontal by a force F⃗ F→ of magnitude 16
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

a)    W₁ = 8242.2 J, b)      W₁ = 8242.2 J , c)  W₃ = 0 , d)  W₄ = -189.51 J  ,

f) v = 27.24 m / s

Explanation:

a) Work is defined by

         W = F. d = F d sin θ

where angle is between force and displacement

n this case the suitcase is going up and the outside F is parallel to the plane, so the angle is zero and the cosine is 1

         W = F d

Let's calculate

         W = 169 3.8

          W₁ = 8242.2 J

b) the gravitational force is vertical so it has an angle with respect to the horizontal parallel to the plane of

           θ’= 90 - θ

           θ'= 90-32 = 58º

           W = m g d thing θ ’

            W = 20 9.8 3.8 thing (180 + tea ’) =

            W = 744.8 cos (180 + 32)

            W₂ = -631.6 J

c) The normal work, as it has 90º with respect to the displacement, its work is zero

         W₃ = 0

d) the work of the friction force

Let's write Newton's second law the Y axis

         N- Wy = 0

         Cos 32 = Wy / W

          N = W cos 32

The expression for friction force is

         fr = μ N

         fr = μ mg cos 32

         fr = 0.300 20 9.8 cos (32)

         fr = 49.87 N

The work of the friction force

         W = fr d cos 180

         W₄ = -49.87 3.8

          W₄ = -189.51 J

E) The total work

         W = W₁ + W₂ + W₃ + W₄

         W = 8242.2- 631.6 + 0 -189.51

          W_total = 7421.09 J

F) Usmeosel theorem of work and energy

          W = ΔK

          W = ΔK = ½ m v² - 0

          v =√ 2W / m

          v = √ (2 7421.09 / 20)

          v = 27.24 m / s
