As a small bullet leaves a gun, a net force is applied to shoot it through a barrel. If the bullet has a mass of 34.67 grams and

leaves the barrel at a speed of 249.7 m/s. If the barrel of the gun is only 13 cm, what force is applied to the bullet as it leaves the gun?

Answer:

F = 333.1 N

Explanation:

Force: This is defined as the product of mass of a body and its acceleration. The S.I unit of force is Newton (N).

From Newton's equation of motion.

v² = u² + 2as............. Equation 1

Where v = final velocity of the bullet, u = initial velocity of the bullet, s = length of the gun, a = acceleration of the bullet

Making a the subject of formula in the equation above

a = (v² - u²)/2s................. Equation 2

Given: v = 249.7 m/s, u = 0 m/s ( The bullet was at rest before the gun was shot), s = 13 cm = (13/100) m = 0.13 m.

Substituting these values into equation 2

a = (2497.7-0)/(2×0.13)

a = 2497.7/0.26

a = 9606.54 m/s²

Force = Mass × acceleration

F = M a................ Equation 3

Where M = mass of the bullet, F = force applied to the bullet

Given: m = 34.67 g = (34.67/1000) = 0.03467 kg, a = 9606.54 m/s²

Substituting these values into Equation 3

F = 0.03467 × 9606.54

F = 333.1 N

What are the main activities involved in studying physics?
Firlakuza [10]
The main activity that is involved in studying of physics is the study of natural laws. The study of physics has to do with many aspects of the universe. Physics majorly looks into the natural laws that operate in the universe and describe how they affect matter in relation to time.

At full power, how long would it take for the car to accelerate from 0 to 58.0 mph ? neglect friction and air resistance.
Advocard [28]

For the given problem, we calculate the required time by using the formula P = W/t.

P = [(1/2)mv_f^2 – (1/2)mv_i^2]/ t

The car accelerates from 0 -58 mph, so the power engine will be

P = (1/2) x m x 58^2 / t = 1682 m / t

According to the problem, the engine produces full power so the time required can be calculated as

420.5 m / 1.40 = 1682 m / t

t = 5.6 seconds

One way to measure g on another planet or moon by remote sensing is to measure how long it takes an object to fall a given dista
devlian [24]

Answer:

2.24 m/s²

Explanation:

Using equation of motion

s = ut + \frac{1}{2}at²

u = 0 , t = 3.17 s , s = 11.26 m

Put these values in the equation above

11.26 = 0 +.5 x a( 3.17)²

a = 2.24 ms⁻².

So acceleration due to gravity on that planet will be 2.24 m s⁻².

A 100-year flood is the flooding elevation that has a one percent chance of happening each year. Why is the name misleading
fenix001 [56]
One percent annual chance of flooding does not mean it will happen with absolute certainty once every 100 years. Just that the expected value of a flood in 100 years is one.

As an example, heads has a 50% chance of happening every coin flip. With 2 coin flips, the expected value is one. However, it would be a misnomer to call "heads" a 2-flip outcome.
