X and y
y is smaller

sum of a number and 2 times a smaler is 98
x+2y=98

bigger is 22 less than 3 times smaller
x=-22+3y

sub -22+3y for x in first equation

-22+3y+2y=98
-22+5y=98
add 22 to both sides
5y=120
divide both sides by 5
y=24

sub back
x=-22+3y
x=-22+3(24)
x=-22+72
x=50

the numbers are 24 and 50
