The weight (in pounds) of ``medium-size'' watermelons is normally distributed with mean 15 and variance 4. A packing container f

or several melons has a nominal capacity of 140 pounds. What is the maximum number of melons that should be placed in a single packing container if the nominal weight limit is to be exceeded only 5\% of the time? Use the results of question 8 to help you answer this one.

Answer:

Hence safely 9 watermelons can be placed in a single container.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the  weight (in pounds) of ``medium-size'' watermelons is normally distributed with mean 15 and variance 4.

X = weight in pounds of medium size watermelons is N(15, 2)

Let the water melons stored be n

Then the sample of n has a mean of (15) and std error = \frac{2}{\sqrt{n} }

Capacity = 140

Hence we can say either 8 or 9

If n=9, we have weight = 15*9+1.96*2/3 = 136.40

Hence safely 9 watermelons can be placed in a single container.

if a spider can move 11/18 of a mile every hour then how many hours would it take for a spider to go 11 miles
Hunter-Best [27]

Hey there! I'm happy to help!

First, let's see how many 11/18 miles fit into 11 miles.

11÷11/18=18

Therefore, they will need to 18 repeats of this 11/18, and since they move 11/18 mile per hour, this means that it would take 18 hours for the spider to go 11 miles.

Have a wonderful day! :D

Dividing by whole numbers how do I do this
igomit [66]
The answer is 6.7
You (should) know 10 goes into 67, 6 times. So write 6 on the top and subtract 60 from 67. You get 7. 10 doesn't go into 7 because 7 is less. So write a zero next to the 7 AKA bring down a 0. You will then technically have 70. 10 goes into 70, 7 times, so write 7 next to the previous 6 at the top, and put a decimal between 6 and 7.

Or

You should know if anything is being divided by 10. You just move the decimal to the left. Left is less. In 67 the decimal is right after the 7. 67.0. Therefore if you move the decimal one place over to the left you get 6.7

Either way works.
