Give them a comfort zone or something that helps them take their mind off stress while they dont even know it. A big thing a lot of people do is give their children dolls, stuffed animals as a way for that child to have a bond  with something they know wont leave them. Also depending on the situation parents play a big role with stress in a child's life, it is little things parents do like saying good job, or asking instead of telling that mean a lot to a child.
