Answer:

The number of students chose jogging is <u>144</u>, chose swimming is <u>72</u>, chose yoga is<u> 144</u> and chose biking is <u>288</u>.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

At westwood Middle School, 648 students responded to a survey asking about their favorite type of exercise.

Twice as many students chose jogging as swimming.

The same number of students chose yoga as jogging.

Twice as many students chose biking as jogging.

Now, to find the number of students chose each type of exercise.

<em>Let the students chose jogging be </em>w.<em />

<em>The student chose swimming be </em>x.<em />

<em>The student chose yoga be </em>y.<em />

<em>And the student chose biking be</em> z.

As per given in question:

Twice as many students chose jogging as swimming.

w=2x\\\frac{w}{2} =x\\.........(1)

The same number of students chose yoga as jogging.

y=w .........(2)

Twice as many students chose biking as jogging.

z=2w.  .........(3)

Total students surveyed = 648.

According to question:

w+x+y+z=648.

Putting the value from above equations (1), (2) and (3) we :

w+\frac{w}{2} +w+2w=648

4w+\frac{w}{2}=648

\frac{8w+w}{2} =648

\frac{9w}{2}=648

<em>Multiplying both sides by 2 we get:</em>

9w=1296

<em>Dividing both sides by 9 we get:</em>

w=144.

<u><em>The students chose jogging = 144.</em></u>

<em><u>The student chose swimming:</u></em>

x=\frac{w}{2} \\x=\frac{144}{2} \\x=72

<u><em>The students chose yoga:</em></u>

y=w\\y=144.

<u><em>The student chose biking :</em></u>

z=2w\\z=2\times 144\\z=288

Therefore, the number of students chose jogging is 144, chose swimming is 72, chose yoga is 144 and chose biking is 288.

Sociology graduates, upon entering the workforce are normally distributed and earn a mean salary of $30,000 with a standard devi
GrogVix [38]

Answer:

0.62% probability that randomly chosen salary exceeds $40,000

Step-by-step explanation:

Problems of normally distributed distributions are solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

In this question:

\mu = 30000, \sigma = 4000

What is the probability that randomly chosen salary exceeds $40,000

This is 1 subtracted by the pvalue of Z when X = 40000. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{40000 - 30000}{4000}

Z = 2.5

Z = 2.5 has a pvalue of 0.9938

1 - 0.9938 = 0.0062

0.62% probability that randomly chosen salary exceeds $40,000

nirvana33 [79]

Answer:

<h3>                 \bold{a_{87}=-445}</h3>

Step-by-step explanation:

a_1=157\\a_2=150\\\\d=150-157=-7\\\\a_n=a_1+d(n-1)\\\\a_{87}=157+(-7)(87-1)=157-7\cdot86=-445
