Answer:

As x coordinate of function is : -6, -4, -2, 0

And y coordinate of function is : -13, -9, -5,-1

If a function is linear it means

Slope will be same everywhere.

Slope between two points(x_{1},y_{1}) \text{and} (x_{2}, y_{2})<em> </em>is = \frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2} -x_{1}}

= \frac{-9+13}{-4+6}=\frac{4}{2}=2\\\frac{-5+9}{-2+4}=\frac{4}{2}=2\\\\\frac{-1+5}{0+2}=\frac{4}{2}=2\\\\\frac{-1+13}{0+6}=\frac{12}{6}=2

So, between any two points slope are same i.e equal to 2.So it is a linear function.

So, Mark is right that the function is linear.

Given a right triangle with sides a = 3 , b = 4, and c = 5. Find the missing side c of another right triangle with a = 6 and b =
horsena [70]

<em>c = 10</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

We can find out the missing side of a right triangle by using the Pythagorean theorem.

The Pythagorean theorem is...

a^2+b^2=c^2

We can even double check the first problem by plugging in everything into the theorem and solving, everything will come out correct. We can plug in the numbers from the second problem into the theorem and find c, also please note that the hypotenuse of a triangle will <em>always </em>be c. It doesn't matter which you put in for a or b, but since the problem gives us which one is a and which one is b, I'll just be plugging it in like that.

6^2+8^2=c^2

36+64=c^2

100=c^2

A lot of people will stop here and think that the answer is 100, but you need to find the square root of 100, since c is squared. The square root of 100 is 10, so...

<em><u>c = 10</u></em>

6. Find the function with x-intercepts (-3,0) and (5,0), which also goes through the point (1,8)
Yakvenalex [24]

Answer:

f(x) = (-1/2)(x^2 + 8x - 15)

Step-by-step explanation:

This function has two roots:  -3 and 5.  Most likely it is a quadratic (all of which have two roots).

Then f(x) = a(x + 3)(x - 5)

The graph goes through (1. 8):  Therefore, y = 8 when x = 1:

f(1) = a(1 + 3)(1 - 5) = 8, or

        a(4)(-4) = 8, or

            -16a = 8, which leads to a = -1/2.

Thus the quadratic in question is f(x) = (-1/2)(x + 3)(x - 5), or

                                                        f(x) = (-1/2)(x^2 + 8x - 15)
