Which finding is expected in a patient with shock caused by an isolated spinal cord injury?
vodka [1.7K]

Hypotension is expected in a patient with shock caused by an isolated spinal cord injury.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) can cause neurogenic shock, which can cause hypotension, bradyarrhythmia, and temperature dysregulation. It is linked to injuries to the cervical and high thoracic spine.

The result of autonomic dysregulation after spinal cord injury, which is typically secondary to trauma, is neurogenic shock. Loss of sympathetic tone and an unopposed parasympathetic response are the causes of this imbalance. Spinal anesthesia, Guillain-Barre syndrome, autonomic nervous system toxins, transverse myelitis, and other neuropathies are also much less frequent causes of neurogenic shock.
