These oval-shaped vibration receptors located mainly in the dermis or subcutaneous tissue are called lamellated corpuscles. The lamellated corpuscle consists of concentric layers of a connective tissue that is wrapped around the dendrites of a sensory neuron. Therefore, lamellated corpuscles are the encapsulated nerve endings. The lamellated corpuscle responds to vibrations of high frequency such as that of an electric tool.
