Continental glaciers are perpetual pieces of ice that are much larger than high glaciers. Small continental glaciers are named ice fields. Big continental glaciers are named ice sheets. Greenland and Antarctica are nearly completely coated with ice sheets that are up to 3500 m thick. Continental glaciers are much larger than alpine glaciers but it can be more complex to see how they have consumed the panorama.
