When designing a building, you must be sure that the building can withstand hurricane-force winds, which have a velocity of 73 m

i/h or more. The formula f=0.004av^2 gives the force F in pounds exerted by a wind blowing against a flat surface. A is the area of the surface in square feet, and v is the wind velocity in miles per hour. How much force is exerted by a wind blowing at 81 mi/h against the side of the building shown?

The first step is calculate the surface area of the flat surface shown

Surface area of the rectangle = length * width = 25*12.9 = 322.5 square feet

Surface area of the triangle = 1/2 *base*height = 1/2*25*7.2 = 90 square feet

Total surface area = 322.5 +90 = 412.5 square feet

Total force = 0.004*a*v^2 = 0.004*412.5*81^2 = 10,825.65 pounds

Iteru [2.4K]

Answer:

32 People

Step-by-step explanation:

I put 40 (Number of birthday cards bought previously) over 125 (Number of expected costumers) and multiplied it by 100 (Total number of card bought previously) to get my answer. Hopefully that helps :)

zimovet [89]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for determining the confidence interval for the difference of two population means is expressed as

Confidence interval = (x1 - x2) ± z√(s²/n1 + s2²/n2)

Where

x1 = sample mean of sample 1

x2 = sample mean of sample 2

s1 = sample standard deviation for sample 1

s2 = sample standard deviation for sample 2

n1 = number of samples in sample 1

n2 = number of samples in sample 2

From the information given,

x1 = 934.1

s1 = 120.52

x2 = 1302.2

s2 = 178.6

For a 98% confidence interval, we would determine the z score from the t distribution table because the number of samples are small

Degree of freedom =

(n1 - 1) + (n2 - 1) = (10 - 1) + (10 - 1) = 18

z = 2.552

x1 - x2 = 934.1 - 1302.2 = -368.1

√(s1²/n1 + s2²/n2) = √(120.52²/10 + 178.6²/10) = √(1452.50704 + 3189.796)

= 68.13

Margin of error = 2.552 × 68.13 = 173.87

Therefore, confidence interval =

-368.1 ± 173.87
