Sergei tees off on a stationary hockey puck using his most powerful slap shot. If he can exert a force of 250 N on the 500 gram

puck for a time of 0.1 seconds, what velocity will he give to it, and how far will the puck move in the time it is on his stick?

Answer: velocity = 50m/s

Distance moved=5m

Explanation:

Using the formula Ft=Mv i.e impulse= momentum

Where F= force ,t= time, M= mass, v = velocity

In this case we need to find v,

F,t,M are all given in the question.

Therefore, substituting the values we have

250N×0.1s=0.5kg×v. Mass=500g= 0.5kg

v=25/0.5= 50m/s

The distance the puck will move when it is on his stick.

D= Velocity × time

D=50m/s × 0.1s

D=5m

When light waves passes straight through an object, it is called?

<h3><u>Answer;</u></h3>

Transmission

<h3><u>Explanation;</u></h3>
  • <em><u>Light waves are types of waves that are electromagnetic waves, meaning they do not require material medium for transmission. </u></em>Light is transmitted as a transverse wave such that the vibration of particles is perpendicular to the direction of wave motion.
  • <em><u>A material medium enables the transmission of a wave by the vibration of particles, atoms or molecules. </u></em>The vibration of particles in a medium helps in the transmission of a wave such that energy is transferred from one point to another due to the disturbance caused by the wave.

A flywheel with a diameter of 1.63 m is rotating at an angular speed of 79.9 rev/min. (a) What is the angular speed of the flywh
Studentka2010 [4]

Answer:

(a) 8.362 rad/sec

(b) 6.815 m/sec

(c) 9.446 rad/sec^2

(d) 396.22 revolution

Explanation:

We have given that diameter d = 1.63 m

So radius r=\frac{d}{2}=\frac{1.63}{2}=0.815m

Angular speed N = 79.9 rev/min

(a) We know that angular speed in radian per sec

\omega =\frac{2\pi N}{60}=\frac{2\times 3.14\times 79.9}{60}=8.362rad/sec

(b) We know that linear speed is given by

v=r\omega =0.815\times 8.362=6.815m/sec

(c) We have given final angular velocity \omega _f=675rev/min

And \omega _i=79.9rev/min

Time t = 63 sec

Angular acceleration is given by \alpha =\frac{\omega _f-\omega _i}{t}=\frac{675-79.9}{63}=9.446rad/sec^2

(d) Change in angle is given by

\Theta =\frac{1}{2}(\omega _i+\omega _f)t=\frac{1}{2}(675+79.9)\times 1.05=396.22rev
