The Reformation broke within the Roman Catholic Church and created a separate Protestant Christianity in the 16th century. It led to the creation of Lutherans, Calvinists, Puritans, Anglicans etc. Criticism of Church authority and traditions lead to devastating wars between Catholics and Protestants. Reformation destroyed the framework of society under a single church. People were devoted to religion and society based on church believes.
