A 6 kg block is attached to a massless rope that passes over a frictionless pulley. The pulley can be modeled as a uniformly den

se solid cylinder with a mass of 4 kg that rotates around an axis passing through its center. The other end of the rope is wound around a uniformly dense solid sphere with a mass of 10 kg and a radius of 6 cm. When released from rest the block will fall and the sphere will rotate as the rope unwinds from it. The rope will pass over the surface of the pulley without slipping. What is the effective mass of this system (in kg)?

The effective mass of the system is 12 kg.

Explanation:

  • The effective mass of the system is given by the expression,

                    = mₓ + 1/2 m₁ + 2/5 m₂

  • In the above equations the subscript x denotes block B and the subscript 2 denotes the mass of the solid sphere and the subscript 1 denotes the pulley.
  • Expressing the above functions with the data given below. we have,

           = 6 kg + 1/2 (4 kg) + 2/5 (10 kg)

           =  12 kg.

with the findings above we can conclude that the effective mass of the system is 12 kg

A system gains 767 kJ of heat, resulting in a change in internal energy of the system equal to +151 kJ. How much work is done?
Crazy boy [7]

Answer:

The work done on the system is -616 kJ

Explanation:

Given;

Quantity of heat absorbed by the system, Q = 767 kJ

change in the internal energy of the system, ΔU = +151 kJ

Apply the first law of thermodynamics;

ΔU = W + Q

Where;

ΔU is the change in internal energy

W is the work done

Q is the heat gained

W = ΔU  - Q

W = 151 - 767

W = -616 kJ (The negative sign indicates that the work is done on the system)

Therefore, the work done on the system is -616 kJ

A distorted 1kHz sine wave is represented by the equation: LaTeX: v(t) = 5sin(2 \pi 1000t) + 0.05sin(2 \pi 3000t)v ( t ) = 5 s i
vovikov84 [41]

Answer:

As given in the problem statement

frequency=1 KHz=1*10^3 Hz

V(t) is represented as

v(t) = 5sin(2 \pi 1000t) + 0.05sin(2 \pi 3000t)

v ( t ) = 5 s i n ( 2 π 1000 t ) + 0.05 s i n ( 2 π 3000 t )

Total harmonic distortion will be 234 Pi

Which of the following is not an example of natural climate change?
wlad13 [49]

(c) is the correct choice.

El Nino (a), Earth's orbit (b), and solar energy output (d) are all "natural" occurrences. You can't do a thing aboutum.

Fossil fuels ... or, more precisely, humanity's use of vast quantities of fossil fuels as a convenient source of huge quantities of energy ... and the subsequent increase of Carbon Dioxide in the planet's atmosphere, is not the result of "natural" processes. It's the result of human efforts to alter and control Nature, through artificial processes.

What is the net charge of a copper atom if it gains 2 electrons?
Alex_Xolod [135]
If an atom gains electrons, it develops a negative charge equal to the number of electrons gained.
So the net charge on the copper atom which gained 2 electrons will be -2.
