Think of two ropes next to each other. Draw a picture if it helps. To find how much longer, start with the longer one and subtract the shorter length to get the difference, or “how much longer.”
To subtract fractions they have to be changed to the same denominator. First change 3 2/3 to a complex fraction; multiply the coefficient 3 times the denominator 3, then add the numerator. 3X3=9. 9+2=11 . 11 is now numerator, use same denominator. So you get 11/3. Then change denominator to 9. To do this you have to multiply by what? You would multiply by 3. Do the same to the numerator: 11 X 3=33. The fraction becomes 33/9. Now you can subtract. Now that both have the same denominator, you just subtract the numerators. 33-8=25. So, 33/9-8/9= 25/9

The equation of a line is y = -3x. To which equation is the line parallel to? A. Y = 1 third x minus 4 B. Y = 3x + 10 C. Y = -10
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer:

This line would be parallel to C. y = -10 - 3x

Step-by-step explanation:

This is because parallel lines have the same slope. This means we must see the same coefficient of x in both equations. Both of these two equations have a coefficient of -3 on x.

Complete the square on the following quadratic x2+10x+9=0
kakasveta [241]
Given a quadratic equation x^{2} +ax+c=0

1. the first thing we do when we want to compete the square, is write the coefficient of x as 2 times a number.

In our case the coefficient of x is 10, so we write 10 as 2*5

2. then we write + 5^{2} and - 5^{2} to the expression:

x^{2} +2*5*x+ 5^{2} -5^{2}+9=0

(x^{2} +2*5*x+ 5^{2}) -25+9=0

(x+5)^{2}-16=0

Answer: (x+5)^{2}-16=0

I wanna day, that both are correct because they substituted the same value into both expressions and the results are the same.
Both squares substitute in 6 and both equal -5.

Umnica [9.8K]

Answer:

1) 2(t - 7)(t + 1)

2) $32,000

Step-by-step explanation:

v(t) = 2t² - 12t - 14

v(t) = 2(t² - 6t - 7) = 2(t - 7)(t + 1)

x = -b/2a = 6/2 = 3

y = 2(3)² - 12(3) - 14 = -32

(3, -32) means at 3 months, -32 thousand dollars

The width of a rectangle is six meters less than three times its length. If the area of the rectangle is 105 square meters. what
Kipish [7]

Answer:

length = 7 meters

Step-by-step explanation:

l = length

w = width

w = 3×l - 6

l×w = 105 m²

l×(3×l - 6) = 105

3×l² - 6×l = 105

l² - 2×l = 35

l² - 2×l - 35 = 0

solution of a squared equation is

(-b ± sqrt(b² - 4ac))/(2a)

a = 1

b = -2

c = -35

(2 ± sqrt(4 - 4×-35))/2 = (2 ± sqrt(4+140))/2 =

(2 ± sqrt(144))/2 = (2 ± 12)/2 = 1 ± 6

l1 = 1+6 = 7 meters

l2 = 1-6 = -5 meters, which did not make any sense for an actual object.

so, l = 7 meters remains.
