Say you dropped a cannonball from the 17-meter mast of a ship sailing at 2 meters/second. How far from the base of the mast will

the ball land?

It should land at the base of the mast. the cannonball, whilst in your hand, is travelling at the same rate as the boat in the horizontal plane ie at 2m/s. as it leaves you hand it should retain that velocity and therefore land right underneath where it was dropped. this assumes all other things are equal, eg there is no air resistance etc that might cause the ball to accelerate or decelerate. <span>

What velocity must a 1210 kg car have in order to have the same momentum as the pickup truck in the sample problem
harina [27]

Answer:

P=mv 2250*25=56250

Explanation:

p of truck =2250*25 =56250

since p of truck = p of car

then p of car = 56250

therefore p of car = 1210 * v

or, 56520=1210v

or,v= 56520/1210=46.48

so, v of car is 46.48m/s

A disk rotates freely on a vertical axis with an angular velocity of 30 rpm. An identical disk rotates above it in the same dire
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

c. 25 rpm

Explanation:

The inertia of both disk is the same so

I_1=I_2

I_1*w_{1i}+I_2*w_{2i}=I_1*w_{1f}+I_2*w_{2f}

I*(w_{1i}+w_{2i})=I*(w_{1f}+w_{2f})

w_{1f}=w_{2f}=w_f

w_{1f}+w_{2f}=2w_f

w_f=\frac{w_{1i}+w_{i2}}{2}

w_f=\frac{30rpm+20rpm}{2}

w_f=\frac{50rpm}{2}

w_f=25rpm
