Get the x on one side of the equation and the numbers on the other side.

First, use the distributive law to expand 4x(6 - 2)

4x(6 - 2) - 10 = 20
24x - 8x - 10 = 20

Combine like terms. 24x and -8x have the same variables.

24x + (-8x) = 16x

Now we have 16x - 10 = 20

We need to get ride of that -10. That way the 16x will be alone.
We need to subtract or add to -10 to make it to a 0.
We will add 10 to -10 to make it a 0.
Do the same thing with the other side.

16x - 10 = 20
16x = 30

Now divide both sides by 16 so the x can be alone.

x = 30/16

Change to a mixed number.

x = 1 14/16

Simplify

x = 1 7/8

What are the zeros of the quadratic function f(x) = 2x2 – 10x – 3?
Ipatiy [6.2K]

Answer:

x = \frac{ 5 \ + \ \sqrt{31}}{2} \ , \ x = \frac{ 5 \ - \ \sqrt{31}}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

2x^2 - 10x - 3 = 0 \\\\a = 2 \ , b = - 10 \ , \ c =  - 3 \\\\x = \frac{-b^2\  \pm \ \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}\\\\x = \frac{10 \ \pm \sqrt{(-10)^2 - ( 4 \times 2 \times -3)} }{2 \times 2}\\\\x = \frac{10 \ \pm \sqrt{(100 - ( -24 )} }{4}\\\\x = \frac{10 \ \pm \sqrt{(100 + 24 } }{4}\\\\x = \frac{ 10 \ \pm \sqrt{124}}{4}\\\\x = \frac{ 10 \ \pm \sqrt{4 \times 31}}{4}\\\\x = \frac{ 10 \ \pm \sqrt{2^2 \times 31}}{4}\\\\x = \frac{ 10 \ \pm2 \sqrt{31}}{4}\\\\x = \frac{ 5 \ \pm\sqrt{31}}{2}\\\\

x = \frac{ 5 \ + \ \sqrt{31}}{2} \ , \ x = \frac{ 5 \ - \ \sqrt{31}}{2}

What is 2/3 divided b 1/6 =?
Xelga [282]

Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{2}{3} \div \frac{1}{6} can also be written as  \frac{2}{3} \times \frac{6}{1}. Evaluating this gives \frac{2 \times 6}{1 \times 3} = \frac{12}{3} = 4

In circle K shown below, points B, C, D, and E lie on the circle with secants HBD and HCE drawn. Prove:
Alexxx [7]

Answer:

By exterior angle theorem, we have;

∠DBE = ∠H + ∠HEB = ∠ECD = ∠H + ∠HDC

∴ ∠H + ∠HEB = ∠H + ∠HDC

By addition property of equality, we have

∠HEB = ∠HDC

∠H = ∠H by reflexive property

∴ ΔHCD ~ ΔHEB by Angle Angle AA similarity postulate

∴ HE/HD = EB/DC, by the definition of similarity

Therefore, by cross multiplication, we have;

HE × DC = EB × HD

Therefore, by commutative property of multiplication, we have;

HE × DC = HD × EB

Simplify this answer <br><br> please help!
aliya0001 [1]

Answer:

(hope this helps can I pls have brainlist (crown) ☺️)

Step-by-step explanation:

7^8 x 7^3 x 7^4 / 7^9 7^5

= 7^(8+3+4) / 7^(9+5)

= 7^15 / 7^14

= 7^(15-14)

= 7.

When the bases of the numbers are the same when multiplying numbers with exponents, you can just add the exponents like so:

7^8 x 7^3 x 7^4= 7^15

Now, look at the rest of the simplified equation and do the same to the denominator:

 7^15 / 7^9 x 7^5 ⇒ 7^15/ 7^14

When the bases are the same in the fraction, you are allowed to subtract the exponents. This will lead you to the simplified answer  = 7^15-14 = 7^1  = 7

Cos(-170°) = _____<br><br> -cos10°<br> cos10°<br> cos(-10°)
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

<h3>-cos10°</h3>

Step-by-step explanation:

cos is positive at first and fourth quadrant

so, cos (-x) = cos (x)

also, cos(180-x) = -cos x

        cos (180+x) = -cos x

cos (-170°) = cos (170°)

cos(170°) = cos (180° - 10°)

              =  - cos 10°
