Which lines in this excerpt from act V of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet Create dramatic irony ?
Sphinxa [80]
Dramatic irony is when the reader knows something that the charictors are not aware of.. so in scene V it would be the fact that we know juliet is trying to fake her death so that her and romeo can live together but, we also know that romeo never got the letter saying that... (so the dramatic irony is that we know that romeo is unaware that the death is a hoax but none of the charictores are.)

In Act 1, Scene 4, Mercutio encourages Romeo to enjoy the party by saying, “You are a lover. Borrow Cupid’s wings and soar with
larisa [96]

The answer is: allusion.

Allusion is a brief reference to a person, event, place or work of art. In the quote from Act 1, Scene 4 of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," Mercutio mentions Cupid humorously to make Romeo (who is depressed) have a good time at the party. In that respect, he says he suggests that Romeo finds someone and dances.

Sociologists argue that we all “do gender” by reflecting societal notions about gender. How do you think you “do gender?” For ex
sertanlavr [38]
Personally, I think I "do gender" by dressing in feminine ways such as purchasing skirts and girly tops from "stores for girls". I believe I "do gender" by acting subservient and polite to most people. My hobbies tend to be "girly" things such as writing which is seen as a girl-dominated thing, teaching (again, stereotyped to be a girl's profession), drawing, and a "girl sport"-tennis. I think I mostly conform to the norms, but also challenge them in some way. I don't use she/her pronouns, I use they/them. I'm mostly friends with boys as opposed to girls and contrary to the norm, I have no interest in them (I'm a lesbian). Feel free to edit to make it more applicable to you!! Hope this helped.
