The power (P) required to run a motor is equal to the voltage (E) applied to that motor times the current (I) supplied to the mo

tor. If the motor data says the motor uses 180 watts of power and the voltage applied to the motor is 120 volts, how much current will the motor require?

Explanation:

It is known that power of a machine is related to the voltage and current as power equals voltage times current.

Mathematically,       Power = Voltage × Current

Since, it is given that power is 180 watts and voltage is 120 volts. Therefore, calculate the current required by motor as follows.

                       Power = Voltage × Current

                         180 watts = 120 volts × Current

                           Current = 1.5 ampere

Thus, we can conclude that current required by the motor is 1.5 ampere.

Four forces act on bolt A as shown; F1 150N, F2 80N, F3 110N and F4 100N. Determine the magnitude and direction of the resultant
netineya [11]

Complete Question

The  complete question(reference (chegg)) is shown on the first uploaded image

Answer:

The magnitude of the resultant force is  F  =  199.64 \ N

The  direction of the resultant force is  \theta = 4.1075^o from the horizontal plane

Explanation:

Generally when resolving force, if the force (F )is moving toward the angle then the resolve force will be  Fcos(\theta ) while if the force is  moving away from the angle  then the resolved force is  Fsin (\theta )

Now  from the diagram let resolve the forces to their horizontal component

    So

          \sum F_x  =  150 cos(30) + 100cos(15) -80sin (20)

          \sum F_x  =  199.128 \ N

Now  resolving these force into their vertical component can be mathematically evaluated as

         \sum  F_{y}  =  150 sin(30) - 100sin(15) -110 +80 cos(20)

         \sum  F_{y}  =  14.30

Now the resultant force is mathematically evaluated as

        F  =  \sqrt{F_x^2 + F_y^2}

substituting values

        F  =  \sqrt{199.128^2 + 14.3^2}

        F  =  199.64 \ N

The  direction of the resultant force is  evaluated as

       \theta  =  tan^{-1}[\frac{F_y}{F_x} ]

substituting values

       \theta  =  tan^{-1}[\frac{ 14.3}{199.128} ]

       \theta  =  4.1075^o from the horizontal plane

How much electrical energy is used by a 400 W toaster that is operating for 5 minutes?
Shkiper50 [21]

The electrical energy consumed by a toaster is 0.033 Kwh.

<u>Explanation</u>:

The power utilized by the toaster is 400 W.

\text { The power utilized by the toaster is } 400 \mathrm{W} \text { in kilo-watts is } \frac{400}{1000}=0.4 \mathrm{Kw}

The toaster is operated for 5 Minutes.

\text { The toaster is operated for } 5 \text { Minutes in hours is } \frac{5}{60}=0.083 \text { hours. (One minute is } 60 \text { seconds) }

We know that,

\text {power}=\frac{\text {energy}}{\text {time}}

Substitute the values in the above formula to obtain electrical energy,

0.4=\frac{\text { energy }}{0.083}

Electrical energy = 0.4 × 0.083

Electrical energy is 0.033 Kwh.
