Answer:

t_{slow} = 3.33\ s

Explanation:

given,

stone 1 velocity,u' = v

stone 2 velocity, u = 3 v

time of the faster stone = 10 s

time of the slower stone = ?

using equation of motion

s = ut + \dfrac{1}{2}gt^2_{fast}

displacement , s = 0

0 = ut - \dfrac{1}{2}gt_{fast}^2

t_{fast} = \dfrac{2u}{g}.........(1)

t_{fast} = 3 \dfrac{2v}{g}

\dfrac{t_{fast}}{3} =\dfrac{2v}{g}.......(2)

time taken by the slower ball

t_{slow} = \dfrac{2u'}{g}

t_{slow} = \dfrac{2v}{g}

from equation (2)

t_{slow} = \dfrac{t_{fast}}{3}

t_{slow} = \dfrac{10}{3}

t_{slow} = 3.33\ s

time taken by the slower stone is equal to 3.33 s

Work and Power Practice Calculations
Elza [17]

Answer:

1. W = F d = 20 N * 6 m = 120 J

2. F = W / d = 60 J / 2 m = 30 N

3. d = W / F = 350 J / 85 N = 4.12 m

4. P = W / t = F d / t = 45 N * 9 m / 10 s = 40.5 Watts

5. W = P t = 500 W * 120 sec = 60,000 J

6. t = W / P = 550 J / 310 W = 1.77 sec

The heating element in a kettle behaves like a resistor. A particular kettle needs to operate at 230 V, with a power of 1500 W.
dedylja [7]

Answer:

R = 35.27 Ohms

Explanation:

Given the following data;

Voltage = 230V

Power = 1500W

To find the resistance, R;

Power = V²/R

Where:

V is the voltage measured in volts.

R is the resistance measured in ohms.

Substituting into the equation, we have;

1500 = 230²/R

Cross-multiplying, we have;

1500R = 52900

R = 52900/1500

R = 35.27 Ohms.

Therefore, the resistance which the heating element needs to have is 35.27 Ohms.
