Fossil fuels isn't the only source of energy. Renewable resources can also be utilized. There are lots of home improvements, like geothermal heating using the heat in the ground to heat your house, solar panels, that kind of stuff. There's also fuel alternatives that use biomass and bio fuels, especially from algae, surprisingly. Electricity can continue with wind turbines, hydroelectric systems, solar panels, there are countless ways that activity can continue.
