However, because the thing they are anxious about is getting fat, and binge eating generally leads to fattening, they would try to reduce the calories gotten by purposefully purging, and getting rid of the food. This would lead to the stomach acid going from the stomach up the esophagus and into the mouth, which can cause the acid to sear the internal organs and damage them. Long-term effect of this may lead to the need for emergency medical treatment and treatment programs afterwards.
Purging by self-induced vomiting can cause a few noticeable effects in the face and mouth, including: Tooth decay: Strong stomach acids may break down the gums and tooth enamel over time, which could lead to tooth sensitivity and cavities. Raspy voice: The stomach acid in vomit may damage the vocal cords.
