A polygon is a plane figure connected by straight lines to form a closed shape, examples are triangle, square, hexagon, octagon e.t.c.
A prism is a solid figure that has two parallel and congruent faces (called the bases of the prism). The cross section of a prism parallel to the bases are the same shape as the bases. Prisms are being named according to the shape of the base polygon.
