When a jogger starts to run, the rate at which his muscles produce carbon dioxide rises sharply. But the carbon dioxide in his b

lood rises only slightly before he starts to breathe faster and his heart starts beating more strongly. Soon his increased rate of CO2 production is balanced by an increased rate of CO2 removal. This would be an example of _____ feedback because the jogger's circulatory and respiratory systems are _____.

Answer:

This would be an example of negative feedback because the jogger's circulatory and respiratory systems are acting to oppose the increased concentration of carbon dioxide from the preferred concentration.

Explanation:

In negative feedback system, if some factor in our body changes, the change occured is detected by the sensor. The sensor then sends a signal to the integrating center that as a result stimulates some effector. The effector then will do something in the body to alter that changed factor.

In the body of the jogger, the increased level of the carbon dioxide production is compensated by the increased carbon dioxide removal which is a typical example of negative feedback. The circulatory and the respiratory systems of the jogger are acting to oppose the increased concentration of carbon dioxide from the preferred concentration in the body.
