How do you find direct variation? im having trouble understanding this subject

Mathematics

I was too just a couple of weeks ago. So direct variation is the constant way to variables change together. EX:
x  y
1 2
2 4
3 6
Direct variation must be in the format b=ka where k is a constant. So the direct variation here could be y=2x. Understand?

In one week, a mill worker worked 12,11,13,12,15,16, and 14 hours. Identify the median number of hours worked
velikii [3]

Answer: 13

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we have to arrange the numbers in either ascending or descending order.

12,11,13,12,15,16, and 14 hours will then be: 11, 12, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.

The median will be gotten using the formula: = (n + 1) / 2

Since there are 7 numbers this will be:

= (n + 1) / 2

= (7 + 1) / 2

= 8/2

= 4th number

Since 13 is the 4th number, it's the median

The table shows the estimated number of bees, y, in a hive x days after a pesticide is released near the hive.
Oksana_A [137]

Answer:

<h2>A.</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The given table is

Days     Bees

  0        10,000

 10        7,500

 20       5,600

 30       4,200

 40       3,200

 50       2,400

Where x represents days and y represents bees.

The exponential function that models this problem must be like

y=a(1-r)^{x}, which represenst an exponential decary, because in this case, the number of bees decays.

We nned to use one points, to find the rate of decay. We know that a=10,000, because it starts with 10,000 bees.

Let's use the points (10, 7500)

y=a(1-r)^{x}\\7500=10000(1-r)^{10}

Solving for r, we have

\frac{7500}{10000}=(1-r)^{10} \\(1-r)^{10} =0.75

Using logarithms, we have

ln((1-r)^{10}) =ln(0.75)\\10 \times ln(1-r)=ln(0.75)\\ln(1-r)=\frac{ln(0.75)}{10} \approx -0.03\\e^{ln(1-r)}=e^{-0.03}\\1-r =e^{-0.03}\\r=-e^{-0.03}+1 \approx 1.97

Replacing all values in the model, we have

y=10000(1-1.97)^{x}\\y=10000(0.97)^{x}

Therefore, the right answer is the first choice, that's the best approximation to this situation.

Giving Brainliest!<br> Explain the difference between low and high-frequency waves
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

Frequency refers to the number of waves that pass a given point in a given time period and is often expressed in terms of hertz (Hz), or cycles per second. Longer wavelengths will have lower frequencies, and shorter wavelengths will have higher frequencies
