Answer:

1. D

2. D

3. B

Explanation:

The only possible answer for the first question is transpiration because precipitation is essentially rain (and all its forms), condensation is the collection of water, and evaporation is simply water in gas form -- thus making D the "odd one out".

For the second question, we know that transpiration is heavily dependent on stomata/guard cells. Exercise has nothing to do with this topic, and transpiration has very little to do with dryness (which makes B and C incorrect). Finally, plants do NOT breathe through transpiration. Instead, they breathe through plant (cellular) respiration (which eliminates A, leaving only D).

For the third question, we know that stomata/guard cells control a variety of cellular (and extracellular) activities in plants. When the stomata are closed, rates of transpiration decrease due to the inability of water to escape. When they are open, however, rates of transpiration increase and the plant loses more water. The most similar thing to that in the human body would have to be our pores, which open and close in response to stimuli (they release sweat when we're too hot, trigger the production of oils in our skin, etcetera). The other choices do not make much sense; for example, capillaries are used for distributing and receiving supplements from the soil and do not control transpiration.

Use logical reasoning and remember that stomata/guard cells control gas exchange and water loss. I recommend watching Hank Green's videos on plants if you are truly confused.

A seasonal color change helps animals in the taiga to _______.
lianna [129]
The answer is a. evade predators.

Animals that live in taiga had to adapt to seasonal changes, by changing their fur or feather color. For example, snow-show hare and ermine live in taiga and their fur color changes with environmental conditions. To effectively camouflage, their fur is white during the winter. That helps them blend into the snow. In the summer, where there is no snow, their fur is brown and similar to the soil color. This way it is more difficult for their predators to spot them.

This is your own opinion. Write about what you would do as a forensic scientist and the good things about that job and vise versa for the least favorite.
