In the first week ( we know it is first week because if it were plural weeks like 'in the first 3 weeks')

so 24 in first week
6-1=5
5 weeks to go

5 weeks times amount gained per week=more
5 times 6=30

30+24=54

she will have saved $54 in 6 weeks

What is the slope-intercept equation of the line going through (3, -6) and
jok3333 [9.3K]

Hi there!

\large\boxed{D. \text{ }y = -4x + 6}

To derive an equation given the points, we can use the slope formula:

slope = \frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x{1}}

Plug in the corresponding coordinates:

slope = \frac{-6-2}{3-1}

Simplify:

slope = \frac{-8}{2} = -4

Therefore, we have:

y = -4x + b

Plug in the x and y values for a coordinate to solve for b:

2 = -4(1) + b

2 = -4 + b

b = 6

The equation is:

y = -4x + 6. The correct answer is D.
