Treatment includes the use of splint, gypsum, or surgery, depending on the severity and position of the fracture. Rehabilitation therapy is usually part of the healing process.
Some wrist fractures may block blood flow to the wrist bone, causing part of it to die. If this occurs, a piece of bone can be inserted from another part of the body (bone taste) to help heal the broken bone. If bone is not healed, it may be necessary to merge a number of wrist bones together.
