Answer:

Earnings Per Share (EPS) = $1.18

Explanation:

We know,

Earnings Per Share (EPS) = \frac{Net Income - Preferred Dividend}{No. of shares outstanding}

Here,

Net Income = $2,500,000

Preferred Dividend = Total preferred stock in dollar x cost of preferred stock

Preferred Dividend = $5,000,000 x 8% = $400,000

No. of shares outstanding table is shown below (Weighted):

Shares outstanding + Additional shares - Treasury stock =

[750,000 x stock split] + [300,000 x (8/12) x stock split] - [150,000 x (5/12) x stock split]

= (750,000 x 2) + (200,000 x 2) - (62,500 x 2)

= 1,500,000 + 400,000 - 125,000

= 1,775,000

Now, EPS = \frac{2,500,000 - 400,000}{1,775,000}

EPS = 1.18 (rounded to 2 decimal places)

Note: 1. As, there is a stock split of 2-for-1, that's why we multiply the stock by 2.

2. Since additional shares are issued on 1st May, therefore, the weight from May to December is for 8 months. Repurchased or Treasury stock should be removed from number of shares.

Answer:

b. They reflect the laws and regulations that affect social and economic behavior.

Explanation:

Morals are not universal and vary greatly depending on the underlying culture and religion. Even still in each civilization, there are many grey areas in the concept of morals. One thing that seems to be constant is that they reflect the laws and regulations that affect social and economic behavior. In this scenario, some developing countries believe that using children as a cheaper form of labor is fine since the children are getting paid and therefore, there are no laws prohibiting this action so people see it as morally correct. While other countries that see it as morally wrong have laws and regulations to prevent people from performing such actions. These laws and regulations are a form of dictating social and economic behavior by stating that it is morally wrong.

mixer [17]

Answer:

The correct answer is letter "D": smaller, community banks.

Explanation:

The Great Recession is the economic fall that occurred between 2007 and 2009 as a result of the housing bubble burst in the U.S. During this period many well-known firms such as Chrysler, General Motors, and Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy. However, not all the business experienced a downturn.

A study conducted by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (2013) indicates that 417 banks and thrift institutions failed between 2006 and 2011 but 702 small community banks reported total assets of around $10 billion by allowing individuals to benefit from loans. Banks and thrift institutions were too conservative in loans during the Great Recession which was interpreted in lower revenues.
