There are two general classifications of mixtures: homogeneous mixture and heterogeneous mixture. Since sugar dissolves in water, this is a homogeneous mixture. In other words, it is called as a solution. Furthermore, there are 3 classifications of solution: unsaturated, saturated and supersaturated. Since only a few are added to the water and all of them dissolved, this is an unsaturated homogeneous mixture.
