I believe that #4 is incorrect. I think that the noun phrase is "favorite dessert" because it is a phrase containing a noun, while "His favorite" (your answer) doesn't have a noun in it, therefore it cannot be a noun phrase.

on one extreme of some location (on the upper side): on the other extreme.

Therefore the best other couple is outside and inside: they also show two opposite locations.
