Marialle shouldn't expect Dominic to be the same because according to the continuity idea, people experience a developmental change as they grow up and become more aware of certain things in life.

Continuity related to development involves quantitative or qualitative changes. Quantitative changes are for example the hight of someone in adolescence and qualitative changes are for example the more mature thoughts someone has when they are adult... different from the ones that person had as a child or adolescence.
