You need a reference point when describing motion because you have to know where you are standing when looking at it
Ex. if you were in a car and you were racing someone and you passed them it might look like they aren’t moving at all or if you are going the same speed they wouldn’t look like they are moving those were both reference points without a reference point it wouldn’t appear to be moving.
