A) 17.9 cm

We have:

f=+15 cm is the focal length of the mirror (for concave mirror, the focal length is positive)

p=91.5 cm is the distance between the object and the mirror

q=? is the distance between the image and the mirror

We can then use the mirror equation to find q:

\frac{1}{f}=\frac{1}{p}+\frac{1}{q}\\\frac{1}{q}=\frac{1}{f}-\frac{1}{p}=\frac{1}{15 cm}-\frac{1}{91.5 cm}=0.056 cm^{-1}\\q=\frac{1}{0.056 cm^{-1}}=17.9 cm

B) -5.0 cm

The height of the image can be determined by using the magnification equation:

\frac{q}{p}=-\frac{h_i}{h_o}

where

h_i = ? is the heigth of the image

h_o = 25.4 cm is the height of the object

Substituting and re-arranging the formula, we find

h_i = -h_o \frac{q}{p}=-(25.4 cm)\frac{17.9 cm}{91.5 cm}=-5.0 cm

And the negative sign means the image is inverted.

Juliette [100K]
Mechanical advantage of a machine is the ratio of the output force over the input force or M=Fo/Fi. Since M=1, Fi=Fo, or the input force is equal to the output force. This means that to raise the refrigerator that weighs 900 N, we need the same input force of 900 N, or Fo=Fi=900 N.

Which element easily loses one electron to form a positive ion?
olga nikolaevna [1]

Answer/Explanation: As mentioned above, the characteristic chemical property of a metal atom is to lose one or more of its electrons to form a positive ion. However, certain metals lose electrons much more readily than others. In particular, cesium (Cs) can give up its valence electron more easily than can lithium (Li).

If a cell phone is dropped from a very tall building, how far has the phone fallen after 2.7 seconds, neglecting air resistance?
Zielflug [23.3K]
The free fall of the phone is an uniformly accelerated motion toward the ground, with constant acceleration equal to
g=9.81 m/s^2

So, assuming the downward direction as positive direction of the motion, since the phone starts from rest the distance covered by the phone after a time t is given by
y(t) =  \frac{1}{2}gt^2
And if we substitute t=2.7 s, we find the distance covered:
y(t)=  \frac{1}{2}(9.81 m/s^2)(2.7 s)^2=35.8 m
