Write down the molecular orbital configurations, sketch the molecular orbital diagrams for molecules and ions:

Chemistry

spin [16.1K]3 years ago

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

The question is incomplete.

However, I will discuss here the general principles of filling molecular orbitals. The filling of molecular orbitals is synonymous to the filling of atomic orbitals because the Hund's rule applies in both cases.

For simple Homonuclear molecules, the order of filling electrons in the molecule into molecular orbitals are as follows;

σ1s, σ*1s, σ2s, σ*2s,σ2px, (π2py,π2pz), (π*2py,π*2pz), σ*2px

For lighter elements, such as Boron, carbon, nitrogen, the π2py and π2pzare less in energy than the σ2px and the σ*2px is lesser in energy than the π*2py and π*2pz orbitals. For these atoms the order is;

σ1s, σ*1s, σ2s, σ*2s,(π2py,π2pz), σ2px,σ*2px,  (π*2py,π*2pz).

The molecular orbital diagrams for molecules and ions are drawn from the order of increasing energies shown in the molecular orbital configuration. Always remember that the number of molecular orbitals formed must be equal to the number of atomic orbitals that were combined in the molecule.

Delicious77 [7]

Answer:

East

Explanation:

Given Newton's third law of motion; "Action and reaction are equal and opposite", when a student jumps off a sled toward the west after it stops at the bottom of an icy hill, the sled will move in the East direction.

This is because, the force exerted on the sled is a reaction force and is opposite in direction to the force that thrusts the boy westward though equal in magnitude with the former.

How many moles of H2SO4 are present in 3.63 liters of a 0.954 M solution?
azamat
For this problem, we will use the formula setup for Molarity.
The formula is M= moles
                               ---------
                                liters

So, lets plug in the numbers we have. We know M= 0.954, and L (liters)= 3.63. Lets plug that into our equation.

                         x
         0.954= -----
                     3.63

As we can see, our moles are unknown.
So, lets multiply 0.954 times 3.63 to get our moles.
0.954 x 3.63 equals 3.46302.

We know this is our correct answer, because when we divide 3.46302 and 3.63, we get 0.954.

Why?
Because when we divide the moles by liters, we get the molarity.

I hope I helped!!!!!

Here are some common units to know if my units confused you.
M= Molarity, which is what we find by dividing moles by liters
mol= Moles
L= Liters
