Answer:

Option B - =8.4672\times 10^{13}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Astronomers measure large distances in light-years. One light-year is the distance that light can travel in one year, or approximately 5,880,000,000,000 miles.Suppose a star is 14.4 light years from earth.

To find : In scientific notation, how many miles away a star is from earth?

Solution :

One light-year is the distance that light can travel in one year is = 5,880,000,000,000 miles.

In scientific notation, 5.88\times 10^{12} miles.

In 14.4 lights year the distance is  =14.4\times5.88\times 10^{12}

In 14.4 lights year the distance is  =84.672\times 10^{12}

                                                  or  =8.4672\times 10^{13}

Therefore, Option B is correct.

3 teachers each bought a box of markers and 2 notebooks. The box of markers cost $2.50. The total was $12.00. Write an equation
larisa [96]

Answer:

$1.12

Step-by-step explanation:

12÷3=4

1 box of markers is $2.50, Multiply $2.50 by 3 and you get $7.50. 12- $7.50= $4.50. $4.50÷ 2= $2.25. $2.25÷2= $1.12

Not 100% but i'm pretty sure this is the answer. Hope this helps. ( if i'm wrong sorry its 2:30 am)

How do i factor 2x^2+11x+5
ira [324]
For simple integer factors as this one has, you want to find two values for the quadratic in the form ax^2+bx+c.   Let the two values be j and k.  These two values must satisfy two conditions.

jk=ac=10 and j+k=b=11, so j and k must be 1 and 10.

Now replace bx with jx and kx...

2x^2+x+10x+5  now factor 1st and 2nd pair of terms.

x(2x+1)+5(2x+1)

(x+5)(2x+1)

Janice has three times as many dimes as nickels. If the total value of the money is $9.10, how many of each types of coin does s
ICE Princess25 [194]
X= number of nickels
3x= number of dimes

Each nickel is $0.05 and each dime is $0.10. Multiply each coins monetary value by the quantity of each. Add them equal to the total $9.10.

(0.05 * x) + (0.10 * 3x)= 9.10
multiply inside parentheses

0.05x + 0.3x= 9.10
add

0.35x= 9.10
divide both sides by 0.35x

x= 26 nickels

DIMES
3x= 3(26)= 78 dimes

CHECK:
(26 nickels * 0.05) + (78 dimes * 0.10)= 9.10
$1.30 + $7.80= $9.10
$9.10= $9.10

ANSWER: There are 26 nickels and 78 dimes.

Hope this helps! :)
