When the pyrophoric comes in contact and catch fire then class D fire extinguisher should be available to extinguish the fire.

Further explanation:

Fire extinguisher:

The fire extinguisher is a device to protect from fire. It basically extinguishes the fire.

There are mainly four classes of fire extinguisher.

(1) Class A: These fire extinguisher sare used in case of fire comes from ordinary combustibles such as wood and paper.

(2) Class B: These fire extinguishers are used only in case of fire comes flammable liquids such as oil and gasoline.

(3) Class C: These fire extinguishers are used only in the case of electrically energized fires.

(4) Class D: These fire extinguishers are used in case of fire comes flammable metal such as titanium, sodium, and magnesium.

The pyrophoric means the material which can be able to ignite spontaneously when it comes in contact with air. Therefore the fire extinguisher which is most suited with pyrophoric substance is class D fire extinguisher.

The correct answer is class D extinguisher.

The pyrophoric materials refer to the components, which ignite briskly after coming in contact with oxygen. These substances can also be water reactive, where hydrogen and heat get produced. A pyrophoric substance ignites continuously in the air at or below 55 degree Celsius.

While working on pyrophoric substances, a class D fire extinguisher is used. A class D fire extinguisher is utilized on combustible metals like titanium, magnesium, sodium, and others that need an extinguishing medium, which does not react with the burning metal.

Choose all the answers that apply. Which of the following will decrease reaction rate? increase pressure decrease temperature in
zavuch27 [327]

The following quantities will effect the reaction rate as follows:

1. On increasing Concentration of the reactant: Rate of the reaction will increases.

2. On increasing pressure : Increases the rate of reaction to the side where there are fewer number of molecules.

3.On increasing temperature of an endothermic reaction: Increases the rate of reaction

4. On decreasing temperature of an endothermic reaction: Increases the rate of reaction.

So the answer is increase pressure, decrease temperature, increase concentration will increases the rate of the reaction.

An acetylene tank has a volume of 390.0 L. It is stored at a temperature of 23.5 °C and has a
xeze [42]

Considering the ideal gas law, there are 279.42 moles of acetylene in the tank.

Definition of ideal gas

Ideal gases are a simplification of real gases that is done to study them more easily. It is considered to be formed by point particles, do not interact with each other and move randomly. It is also considered that the molecules of an ideal gas, in themselves, do not occupy any volume.

Ideal gas law

An ideal gas is characterized by three state variables: absolute pressure (P), volume (V), and absolute temperature (T). The relationship between them constitutes the ideal gas law, an equation that relates the three variables if the amount of substance, number of moles n, remains constant and where R is the molar constant of gases:

P×V = n×R×T

Moles of acetylene

In this case, you know:

 • P= 1765 kPa= 17.4192 atm (being 101.325 kPa= 1 atm)
 • V= 390 L
 • n= ?
 • R= 0.082 \frac{atmL}{molK}
 • T= 23.5 °C= 296.5 K (being 0 °C= 273 K)

Replacing in the ideal gas law:

17.4192 atm× 390 L = n×0.082 \frac{atmL}{molK}× 296.5 K

Solving:

n=\frac{17.4192 atmx 390 L}{0.082 \frac{atmL}{molK}x296.5 L}

n= 279.42 moles

Finally, there are 279.42 moles of acetylene in the tank.
