Answer:

(a) Mean = 52.1

(b) Median = 64

(c) There is no mode

(d) mid-range = 55

Explanation:

Listed below are the jersey numbers of 11 players randomly selected from the roster of a championship sports team. Since one jersey number was missing, therefore, i have randomly added one jersey number into the list.

11 21 99 16 77 89 86 64 26 18 66

(a) Mean

The mean is given by

Mean = sum of the all jerseys numbers/ total number of jerseys

Mean = (11+21+99+16+77+89+86+64+26+18+66)/11

Mean = 573/11

Mean = 52.1

(b) Median

The median is calculated by first arranging the jersey numbers in ascending order

Then (n+1)/2 gives the median value in the list.

(11 + 1)/2 = 6th position is the median of the data.

11 16 18 21 26 64 66 77 86 89 99

The jersey number at 6th position is 64

Median = 64

(c) Mode

The mode is the most repeated number in the data set, since the jersey numbers are supposed to be distinct so no jersey number is repeated more than once therefore, we can say that the there is no mode.

(d) mid-range

The mid-range is found by

mid-range = (least jersey number + greatest jersey number)/2

mid-range = (11 + 99)/2

mid-range = 110/2

mid-range = 55

(e) What do the results tell us?

The jersey numbers are nominal data and they do not measure or count anything, so the resulting statistics are meaningless. The jersey numbers are supposed to keep track of players and there is no statistical meaning behind these jersey numbers.

Answer:

(a) Mean  = 5261.18

(b) Median = 6464

(c) Mode = 0 (no mode)

(d) Mid-range    = 5555

Step-by-step explanation:

Solution;

Data Given;

Set of data: 1111 2121  9999  1616  7777  8989  8686 6464 2626 1818  6666

Finding

(a) Mean?

(b) median)

(c) Mode)

(d) mid range

(e) answer the given question

(a) The mean of the given set of data is calculated using the formula;

Mean = Sum of the number of jersey/total number of jersey

=(1111+2121+9999+1616+7777+8989+8686+6464+2626+1818+6666)/11

= 57873/11

Mean  = 5261.18

(b) The median which simply means the middle number of a set of data is calculated by arranging the variables in either ascending or descending order as shown below.

1111  1616  1818  2121 2626  6464 6666 7777 8686  8989  9999

The number at the middle is 2626

Therefore,

Median = 6464

(c) The mode is the value that appears most frequently in a set of that. From the given data, the mode is zero because none is most frequent.

Therefore,

Mode = 0

(d) The mid-range is calculated using the formula;

Mid-range = (Highest value + lowest value)/2

                   = (9999 + 1111)/2

                    = 11110/2

Mid-range    = 5555

(e) What do the results tell us?

The results tell us the the following;

1. The average number of jersey

2. the middle number of jersey

3. The number between the minimum and maximum jersey

Write an exponential function in the form y=ab^x that goes through points (0, 18) and (2, 288)
Ede4ka [16]

y = abx

Point (1, 4): 4 = ab

Point (3, 16): 16 = ab^3

From 4=ab we have a = 4/b

Substitute into 2nd equation

16 = (4/b)b^3

16 = 4b^2

4 = b^2

2 = b

a = 4/b = 4/2 = 2

An exponential function that fits is: y = 2(2^x)

check: x=1; y = 2(21) = 4 ... point (1, 4)

x=3: y = 2(23) = 2(8) = 16 ... point (3, 16)
