(\frac{1}{2}  \times 5) + ( \frac{2}{5} \times 2) =  \frac{5}{10}  +  \frac{4}{10}
Then add both numerators
\frac{5}{10}  +  \frac{4}{10}  =  \frac{9}{10}
Your final answer should be
\frac{9}{10}

\frac{1}{2} × \frac{2}{5}

= \frac{1(2)}{2(5)} = \frac{2}{10} = \frac{1}{5} in simplest form ( cancelling 2 and 10 by 2 )
