Sales tax is additional money added onto an item, so this means that we need to find the sales tax and then add that onto the price of the hat. 
To find the sales tax, we must multiply the price of the hat by the percentage of tax. 

15.48 * 5% = 0.774

15.48 + 0.774 = 16.254

You can round this to 16.3.

So, Rose paid 16.3 for the hat.
