Answer:

The ray that goes parallel to the main axis after passing through the lens should also be parallel from the object to the lens

Step-by-step explanation:

To form the image of an object using a convex lens, ray diagrams are used. The following steps are followed when drawing ray diagrams.

1) Light rays are drawn from the object incidented on the lens and parallel to the principal axis. The incident light refracts (bends) through the lens and converges at the focal point at the other side of the lens.

2) Another incident light passes through the optical centre undeflected and intersect with the refracted ray at the other side of the lens.

Based on the above points, Roshan made an error by drawing the ray that goes parallel to the main axis and after passing through the lens made the same ray to be parallel from the object to the lens instead of refracting (bending) after passing through the lens.

Answer:

The ray that starts out parallel with the main axis should bend toward the axis and go

through the focal point on the other side.

Step-by-step explanation:

A ray of light is the path through which light travels. It can pass through a lens to form an image. A lens is a curved surface, and the two major types are: the convex and concave lens. Some of its parts are: main axis, focal point, pole etc.

There are three main principles required to follow in tracing the path of light through a given lens to form an image.

From Roshan's table, the second principle is meant for a concave lens. This should be substituted with; the ray that starts out parallel with the main axis should bend toward the axis and go through the focal point on the other side.

The endpoints of EF<br> are E(1,3) and F(-2,8).<br> Find EF.
Phantasy [73]

Answer:

EF = \sqrt{34} ≈ 5.83

Step-by-step explanation:

Calculate EF using the distance formula

d = \sqrt{(x_{2}-x_{1})^2+(y_{2}-y_{1})^2    }

with (x₁, y₁ ) = E(1, 3) and (x₂, y₂ ) = F(- 2, 8)

EF = \sqrt{(-2-1)^2+(8-3)^2}

    = \sqrt{(-3)^2+5^2}

    = \sqrt{9+25}

    = \sqrt{34} ≈ 5.83 ( to 2 dec. places )
