The width is between 2 feet and 4 feet
Taking the average, 1/2 (2 + 4) = 4 feet

The length is between 3 feet and 6 feet
Taking the average, 1/2 (3 + 6) = 4.5 feet

Area of one panel = 4 x 4.5 = 18 ft²
Area of 5 panels = 18 x 5
Area of 5 panels = 90 ft²

The estimated area of the 5 panels is 90 ft².

John's estimate is not reasonable as 140ft² is way too high from the average of 90 ft².

<em>Even taking the biggest possible length and width</em>
<em>The area of 1 panel = 4 x 6 = 24 ft²</em>
<em>The area of 5 panels = 24 x 5 = 120 ft²</em>
<em>Even taking the highest possible estimate of 120 ft², John's estimate is still way too high</em>

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Comment

There are 4 cups in a quart.

There are 12 cups in x quarts.

Solution

4/12 = 1 / x                               Cross multiply

4x = 12*1                                  Combine

4x = 12                                     Divide both sides by 4

4x/4 = 12/4

x = 3 quarts

We are going to round the number '3'.
Look at the first number to the right of '3', which is '9'.

The graph of a quadratic function intercepts the x-axis in two places and the y-axis in one place.
solmaris [256]

The true statement about the quadratic function is that it has two distinct real zeros

<h3>How to interpret the quadratic function?</h3>

The given parameters are:

  • x-intercepts = 2 i.e. intercepts the x-axis in two places
  • y-intercept = 1 i.e. intercepts the y-axis in one place

The first highlight above means that, the function can be represented as:

y = a(x - x1)(x -x2)

Where x1 and x2 are the x-intercepts

This also means that the quadratic function has two distinct real zeros
