4,000,000 and 20,000,000 miles²

let x be the area of one desert then 5x is the area of the other

sum = x + 5x = 24,000,000

6x = 24,000,000

divide both sides by 6

x = 4,000,000

one desert is 4,000,000 miles²

and the other is (5 × 4,000,000)= 20,000,000 miles²

Answer:

The area of desert one is 20,000,000 square miles and the area of desert 2 is 4,000,000 square miles.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

The area of a certain desert desert one is five times the area of another desert desert 2

Let the area of desert 2 is x.

Then the area of desert one is 5x.

The sum of their areas is 24,000,000 square miles.

Therefore,

x+5x=24,000,000

6x=24,000,000

x=\frac{24,000,000}{6}

x=4,000,000

Hence the area of desert 2 is 4,000,000

The area of desert one is 5x = 5×4,000,000 = 20,000,000

Hence, the area of desert one is 20,000,000 square miles and the area of desert 2 is 4,000,000 square miles.

What is the 20th term to -30,-22,-14,-6?
galben [10]
98.
The numbers increase by intervals of 8. You need 16 more terms until you reach the 20th term, so 16*8=128.
128-30=98.

A new motorboat costs $6000. The value of the boat decreases by 15% each year. What is the value of the boat after 3 years?
Elodia [21]

Answer:

 The value of the boat after 3 years is \$3,684.75

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The  formula to calculate the depreciated value  is equal to

V=P(1-r)^{x}

where

V is the depreciated value

P is the original value

r is the rate of depreciation  in decimal

x  is Number of Time Periods

in this problem we have

P=\$6,000\\r=15\%=15/100=0.15\\x=3\ years

substitute

V=6,000(1-0.15)^{3}

V=6,000(0.85)^{3}

V=\$3,684.75
