The mean would be the center value. One line away on either side would be 1 standard Deviation, 2 lines away is 2 deviations and 3 lines away is 3 deviations.

You are told 1 deviation is 36.18

So 2 deviations would be 2 x 36.18 = 72.36 and 3 would be 3 x 36.18 = 108.54

To the left of the middle line subtract from mean

To the right of the middle line add To mean

Number in order from left to right:

595.85, 632.03, 668.21, 704.39, 740.57, 776.75, 812.93

The probability that a student pilot passes the written test for a private pilot's license is 0.7. what is the probability that
zhenek [66]
Probability = 0.063 Fourth try = 0.0973 Let X be the number of failed attempts at passing the test before the student passes. This is a negative binomial or geometric variable with x â {0, 1, 2, 3, . . .}, p = P(success) = 0.7 and the number of successes to to observe r = 1. Thus the pmf is nb(x; 1, p) = (1 â’ p) xp. The probability P that the student passes on the third try means that there were x = 2 failed attempts or P = nb(2, ; 1, .7) = (.3)2 (.7) = 0.063 . The probability that the student passes before the third try is that there were two or fewer failed attmpts, so P = P(X ≤ 2) = nb(0, ; 1, .7) + nb(1, ; 1, .7) + nb(2, ; 1, .7) = (.3)0 (.7) + (.3)1 (.7) + (.3)2 (.7) = 0.973 .

Q3. A student plans a method to prepare pure crystals of copper sulfate.
andreev551 [17]

Answer:

1) The student didn't add copper sulfate but instead he added calcium carbonate.

2) The heated solution should be left to get bigger crystals and should not be instantly allowed to evaporate.

3) He should use copper carbonate not calcium carbonate.

4) Sulfuric acid was added instead of hydrochloric acid.

5) Add solid excessively so that all of the acid is retained.

6) Filter the solution to remove unreacted solid.

7) Heat gently, so the crystals will start to appear.
