In this experiment, the particles moved very slow and we know this because it took a long time for the perfume smell to reach the back of the room. In the liquid phase using the example of the food dye in the cold and hot water, the food dye diffused a lot faster in the hot water because the particles were moving a lot faster and colliding more often and at an increased rate compared to the cold water where the food dye took a lot longer to diffuse in the water and the particle motion and collision was a lot slower and a lot less frequent
