Is it wise for a firm to employ a worker at $20 per hour when another worker does the same job for $10 per hour?
vekshin1
<span>For me,

It would be a rational decision if the first worker was more than twice as productive as the second worker.</span>

This can happen in real life, for example 2 workers are hired to do the same type of job but one worker graduated with honors, the company can give a higher pay to the worker with honors compared with the other one who graduated.

It is up to the company on how much they would pay their workers as long as it is above the minimum wage. Though there might be hurt feelings among the workers if they each knew how much they are paid for, it is also better for the company to inform workers that they are paid this certain amount because of the following reasons (graduated w/ honors).

How long will it take 5000 to double in an account that pays 5.6% simple interest
Ganezh [65]
So... doubling 5000 is just 10,000, thus

\bf \qquad \textit{Simple Interest Earned Amount}\\\\&#10;A=P(1+rt)\qquad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;A=\textit{accumulated amount}\to &\$10,000\\&#10;P=\textit{original amount deposited}\to& \$5,000\\&#10;r=rate\to 5.6\%\to \frac{5.6}{100}\to &0.056\\&#10;t=years&#10;\end{cases}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;10000=5000(1+0.056t)\implies \cfrac{10000}{5000}=1+0.056t&#10;\\\\\\&#10;2=1+0.056t\implies 1=0.056t\implies \cfrac{1}{0.056}=t

What ratios are equivalent to 5:6 the options are 14:21 6:10 40:48
g100num [7]
This is simply testing if proportions are valid.

Guess-and-check, so the answer would be 40:48, since 5 x 8 = 40 and 6 x 8 = 48, where 8 is the set "constant" number
